Did he $h*t the bed?

This cold email could have been so good, until this...

This cold email had a lot of potential, then they $h*t the bed on the basics. Avoid these mistakes…

Let’s break it down:

In terms of copy, this cold email is good. It’s irresistible actually.
→ I WANTED to reply and was interested from the first line.
→ The second line risk reversed price objections.
→ The third line risk reversed the "quality" objections I had.
→ The CTA was simple and effective.

But they killed their opportunity by making simple mistakes.

1️⃣ Always always always send from a business email
Building trust with prospects is already hard. Don’t make it harder by sending from personal emails.

2️⃣ Always, always, always, use first name when you have the data.
In this case, I don’t know where they got the data from, but if it’s from a lead list like Ocean or Apollo, of course they have the first name. And, always use proper punctuations, like a comma, etc.

3️⃣ Do not make simple typos & grammar errors
Some cold emailers are starting to misspell words on purpose…I can kinda get behind that but, not using basic capitalization just makes you look lazy and not trustworthy. Cold emails aren’t social media posts.

4️⃣ See above

5️⃣ Always include info with the signature
Since I don’t know the company from the domain, I can’t research them, so they missed the boat with no company name in the signature as well.

Additionally, use the full name of the person doing the outreach…even if it’s made up! Plus they should have an opt-out statement of some sort in the signature. And technically you should have the company address to comply with CAN-SPAM.

💡 Takeaway: Don’t spend time crafting a great email, only to mess up the opportunity with BASICS.
